Beginning on Monday, secondary students will be able to buy USB flash drives from the Laketown campus office for $9. Please make payment out to the school.
These are 2 GB drives that are preloaded with portable Windows software you can use on your home computer, and still have plenty of space to transport files between home and school.
For more information about these drives and the portable software, visit the Media & Technology page in the Extra Curricular section of the school's web site at http://calvaryschoolsholland.org/287411.ihtml.
You might be wondering, "What is portable software and why should I care"?
Portable software is software designed to run off a USB flash drive. In other words, you do not need to install it. The advantage, of course, is that you then have the software you're used to, with you everywhere you go.
These flash drives are being preloaded with Windows software that either matches what's used at the school (e.g. OpenOffice suite and Firefox), or is just really useful (e.g. SpeedCrunch). Also on these flash drives is a conventient menu for easily starting the portable software.
